Khadi fabric explained: "Khadi (pronounced [kʰaːdiː], Khādī), derived from khaddar, is a hand-spun and woven natural fibre cloth promoted by Mahatma Gandhi as swadeshi (of homeland) for the freedom struggle of India and the term is used throughout the Indian subcontinent.
